Firecracker Grilled Wings - Smoky & Sizzlin'!
Hello friends! Ready for some seriously delicious and easy-to-make grilled wings? These Firecracker Grilled Wings are smoky, a little bit zesty, and perfect for sharing. We've kept them super simple so everyone can enjoy them!
**Yields:** About 12-16 wings
**Prep time:** 15 minutes
**Cook time:** 25-30 minutes
**Here's what you'll need:**
2 lbs chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats (you can usually find them pre-split!)
* 2 tablespoons olive oil
* 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
* 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
* 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your spice preference – start with less if you're sensitive to heat!)
* Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
**For the Smoky Firecracker Glaze (optional, but yummy!):**
1/4 cup ketchup
* 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (check the label for anchovies, if that's a concern – most are fine!)
* 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (just a little for that awesome smoky flavor!)
**Let's get grilling!**
**Prep those wings:** Pat your chicken wings thoroughly dry with paper towels. This helps them get nice and crispy on the grill!
2. **Season them up:** In a large bowl, toss the dried wings with the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Make sure each wing is nicely coated!
3. **Get the grill ready:** Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375-400°F). If you're using a charcoal grill, aim for hot coals.
4. **Grill time!** Place the seasoned wings directly on the preheated grill grates. Close the lid and cook for about 25-30 minutes, flipping them every 5-7 minutes, until they are cooked through and nicely browned. The internal temperature should reach 165°F.
5. **Whip up the glaze (if using):** While the wings are grilling, whisk together the ketchup, honey (or maple syrup), Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke in a small bowl.
6. **Glaze 'em up!** During the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush your delicious smoky glaze over the wings, flipping them once more to coat both sides. Let them get a little sticky and caramelized on the grill.
7. **Serve and enjoy!** Carefully remove the wings from the grill and let them rest for a minute or two. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce (we love a cool ranch or a light blue cheese!) and enjoy the fantastic smoky flavor!
These wings are perfect for a casual get-together or just a tasty weeknight treat. Let us know if you try them! Happy grilling!
